Drug Seizure: Over 1.7 million kyats worth stimulant tablets seized

More than 1.7 billion kyats worth of illegal drugs were seized in Mon State on 3rd January, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

Acting on a tip-off, an Anti-Narcotic Force seized 856,000 stimulant tablets while searching Land Cruiser Prado near Mayanchaung village.

The vehicle was driven by Thura Win, together with Aye Thandar Aung and Phu Phu Wai from Bago to Kawthaung. Further investigation led to the arrest of 2 accomplices, named Ko Shay @ KyawHtet and Khin Zaw Myint in Kawthaung Township.

Moreover, a Toyota FJ Cruiser, 2 motorcycles and over 7.9 million kyats, 6,000 Thai baht, 39 various kinds of gold accessories (valued at about 93.4 million kyats) were seized while searching the resident of the suspects in Dawei. Investigation is underway to reveal the chain of offenders and legal actions have been taken against the suspects in line with the Narcotic Drugs And Psychotropic Substances Law.
