Ethnic Affairs: Cultural literature and dance training opening

Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko on Tuesday attended the opening ceremony of ethnic cultural literature and dance training at the Myeik University.

This training is to preserve ethnic literature, cultural heritage and traditions, to create a good environment so that the original characteristics of the ethnic groups are not lost and to value traditions and customs of each ethnic group. In his speech, the Chief Minister said that it is everyone's responsibility to preserve and hand down cultural customs and literature.

Also, the regional minister for ethnic affairs said that since ancient times, many ethnic groups have been living together in the region in a friendly manner and it is important to prevent the loss of language and cultural heritage.

The opening ceremony included a stage performance by the university students. During the ceremony, Rector of the University also accepted 10 million Kyats for the Myeik University community hall.

The 28-day training is designed to cover ethnic cultural literature and dance, it’s reported.
