







The Myanmar Writers Association organized a respect-paying ceremony to elder doyen literati marking Myanmar Literati Day or Sarsodaw Day for 1385 ME at the City Hall in Yangon on 24th December. The Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Myanmar Writers Association Chairman and responsible persons, elderly literati, writers and guests.
First, the Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn handed 10 million Kyats of cash donation and the clothes worth over 10.3 million Kyats donated by the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the Chairman of Myanmar Writers Association U Ohn Maung (Myinmu-Maung Naing Moe) accepted the donations.
Next, the Director General of Printing and Publishing Department handed 2.5 Million Kyats of cash donation donated by the Ministry of Information, YCDC officials 15 million Kyats donated by Yangon Region Government and 2.78 million Kyats by YCDE, 1 million Kyats donated by USDP (Head office) by secretary (Central ) U Paik Htwe, 300,000 kyats donated by Yangon Region USDP and YGN USDP Chairman family by Yangon Region USDP Chairman U Khin Maung Soe and the Chairman of Myanmar Writers Association accepted the donations. Speaking at the occasion, the Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said the respect-paying ceremony has been organizing and it’s reached 36th anniversary this year.
The celebration of Myanmar Literati Day or Sarsodaw Day has been over 70 years. The Prime Minister shows respect to the doyen literati and the government is providing for the persons of literary world and the doyen laterati as much as they can.
The doyen literati are urged to write the true information with their skill and professional for the people to avoid from the dangers due to the fake news and disinformation on the current situations in the country.
Next, the Chairman of Myanmar Writers Association U Ohn Maung (Myinmu-Maung Naing Moe extended wordsof greeting and secretary of financial subcommittee U Nyunt Tin (Maung Nyein Thu- read the list of donors.
Then, the Union Minister and attendees paid respect to the elder doyen literati and presented gifts and cash of respect. On behalf of the elder doyen literati, National Life Time Literary Award Winner Dr. Tun Tint (Myanmarsar) gave words of advice.
At 1 PM, the Union Minister attended the event of selecting male and female receptionists for 2023 Myanmar Motion Picture Academic Award Presenting Ceremony, held at Myanmar Motion Picture Organization in Bahan Township.
