Resettlement of IDPs: National-Level Committee held a coordination meeting

The coordination meeting of the National-Level Committee on Resettlement of IDPs and Closure of Temporary Camps was held at the Ministry of Border Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw in the afernoon on 18th December.

First, the Chairman of the National-Level Committee on Resettlement of IDPs and Closure of Temporary Camps expressed the successes in some extent due to the effort for the effective and quick implementation of the committees in different levels and urged to discuss works implemented during 8 months period and plans to be carried out.

The chairma pointed out that from 7th April after the coordination meeting (1/2023) to 30th November, a total of 6,246 households constituted 24,370 population could be resettled to their original places and further 90 temporary camps/gathering places could be closed and the continuation of implementation is needed to carry out.

Next, the Vice Chairman of the National Level Committee Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win clarified the status of providing relief items and foodstuffs for the IDPs, social assistance, giving vocational trainings and providing immediate needs for those who resettled at their original place and the plans to be carried out.

Then, the Chairmen of Work Committee on Resettlement of IDPs and Closure of Temporary Camps, Regions and States Ministers for Security and Border Affairs explained works done and the plans to be implemented as per the sector.

Next, the National Level Committee members, work committee members and the responsible persons from the State level committees gave the reviews and suggestions and the National Level Committee Chairmen and Vice Chairman coordinated regarding with the clarifications.
