Israel strikes Gaza as pressure grows for ceasefire

Gaza's health authorities saidthat 24 people were killed and more than 80 others were injured in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza as Israel continued to carry out air strikes on Gaza strip on Sunday.

The Gazan authorities had not been able to release information on deaths since Thursday as Internet and phone lines have been cut. French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, the latest foreign envoy visiting Israel, called for an "immediate and durable" truce in the Gaza, adding Paris is "deeply concerned" over the situation in the Palestinian territory.

But, Israeli Foreign Minister said the "irresponsible call for a ceasefire is a mistake"at a joint media briefing.
