Seminar on public health science: SAC Chairman Prime Minister opened the seminar

The opening ceremony of the seminar on Myanmar public health science (2023) was held at MICC-2 in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 6th December and the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended and opened the seminar.

First, SAC Chairman Prime Minister opened the arch entrance commemorating the opening ceremony of the seminar on Myanmar public health science (2023) by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. The second part of the opening ceremony of the seminar on Myanmar public health science (2023) was held in the Plenary Hall and the SAC Chairman Prime Minister delivered a remark. In his remark, the SAC Chairman said it’s learnt that the seminar on Myanmar public health science (2023) is conducted aiming at exchanging public healthcare experiences carrying out at the home and abroad, enhancing cooperation network among the international and domestic public healthcare organizations, accelerating higher coverage of quality public healthcare service equally accessible by everyone, formulating the work processes to be done for the public health which is crucial to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan and nurturing future leadership in the public healthcare sector.

And over 1800 domestic public healthcare professionals and 30 international experts will participate in the seminar in person as well as online. The State Administration Council is encouraging for the improvement of healthcare standard for the entire people and implementing “to enhance health and sports sectors inclusive of all the people to enhance the longevity and health of the entire nation” with the principle of “Nothing is more important than the human life”. As the seminar on Myanmar public health science (2023) is conducted with the theme of “Improving the longevity and health of the nation”, it will enable to facilitate that social objective.

Thanks to the addressing public health sector, the maternal mortality rate in 1990 dropped at 60% in 2020, under five child mortality rate in 2000 decreased at 53.2% in 2021, neonatal mortality rate in 2000 also declined at 42.1% in 2021. It’s learnt that Myanmar is only country which can implement the “End TB milestone” in the South-East Asian Region as the TB cases rate in 2015 lowered at 20% in 2020.

And also the cases of HIV/AIDS and Malaria and the mortality can be reduced relatively. The achievement in the public health sector is greatly appreciated and all are urged to continue making effort for the affordable and quality healthcare, equally accessible by all. Next, the Video Clip on the achievement in the public healthcare sector was screened and the health personnel from the Department of Public Health presented with “Enhance and encourage Public Health” song.

Then, the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister posed for documentary group photo together with the professionals from health sector and special invited guests. After completing the opening ceremony, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and attendees observed the healthcare display booths under the Ministry of Health and exhibition booths of other ministries, inquired upon the clarification of the responsible officials and gave necessary suggestions. The seminar on Myanmar public health science (2023) will be conducted till December 7.
