






The opening ceremony of the 18th Traditional Mee Shaw Dine (Fire Pole) and Mee Kyar San Festival was held at the Mee Shaw Dine ground of Maw Myay Oo Park in Kalaw Township.
Speaking on the occasion, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye said that the Traditional Mee Shaw Dine (Fire Pole) and Mee Kyar San festival is held to promote the beauty and cool weather of the Kalaw Township and the tradition and culture of Shan people to the world and also to achieve development of tourism sector and township’s economy.
It maintains the unity of the residents of the Kalaw Township and also a reminder to continue good practices in promoting and preserving tradition and culture systematically, he added. Then, the Chief Minister and concerned official cut the ceremonial ribbon to inaugurate the ceremony.
It was followed by releasing a total of 200 big and small hot-air balloons, shooting fireworks, dance competitions of Mee Kyar San groups and traditional dance troupes and Mee Shaw Dine (Fire Pole) competition.
A total of 11 wards from Kalaw Township participated in the Mee Shaw Dine (Fire Pole) competition and the winners were presented with honorary cash awards. The festival is set to take place from 28th November to 1st December.
