Golden Lotus Robe Offering: Ceremony at Uppātasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo and many other officials as well as Buddhist devotees participated in the 15th Golden Lotus Robe Offering Ceremony at the Uppātasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday, the full moon day of Tazaungmon.

They also offered alms food, fruits and water to the Buddha Images at the Pagoda. Also, they took nine precepts by members of the Sangha and listened to the sermons.

The Union Minister and party also offered offertories to the members of the Sangha and shared the merits gained before offering day meal to the members of the Sangha.

The Tazaungdaing Festival also known as the Festival of Lights held on the full moon day of Tazaungmon, the eighth month of the Myanmar calendar, is celebrated as a national holiday in Myanmar and marks the end of the rainy season. It also marks the beginning of the Kathina season, during which monks are offered new robes and alms.
