Labour Affairs: Meeting staff members and issuance of OWIC

Union Minister for Labor U Myint Naung met with the responsible persons from the Department of Labor and Division Offices in Yangon region on Saturday.

At the meeting, the Union Minister said that the service personals are urged to successfully take their duties free from the politics, contributing to the department’s progress with full accountability and to abide by the discipline of civil servants.

All staff members are needed to follow the civic and ethic duties, understanding the five point road maps and nine objectives of the State Administration Council. He added that the missions and visons of the ministry are to achieve success through enhancing the individuals’ working capacity. Team work spirit is a must and also needed to avoid corruption and giving impatient services, he added.

Afterwards, the Union Minister continued to supplement the necessary matters upon the report of the responsible persons of branch offices. Next, the Union Minister and party observed issuing of Oversea Workers Identity Card (OWIC) at the regional office of the Department of Labor in Mayangone Township and the concerned official reported on the conditions of giving overseas works guidance courses.

The OWIC cards are being issued for the workers who have connected with overseas licensed agencies at Yangon Region Labor Department in North Dagon Township and also for the workers on leave from foreign countries are being issued at Mayangon Labor Office respectively. From 1990 to October 2023, the OWIC cards have been issued to over 1.6 million workers who are going to work at 93 overseas countries under different circumstances.
