






A ceremony for successful implementation of projects initiated by 6th batch of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund was held at the Union Minister Office of the Ministry for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister U Min Naung highlighted that Mekong-Lancang Special Fund is established to promote the socio-economic and living status of the rural people and to provide socio-economic promotion projects of the regional countries.
This is the 6th batch of the special fund and the Ministry will implement the projects initiated by the special fund to meet the targets in respective field, he added. Then, the 2nd secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Mr. Zhang Zhonghua and Deputy Director General of the Department of International Organizations and Economics under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Aung Kyaw Moe delivered speeches.
The development of the projects implemented with the 2021 and 2022 special fund were later clarified by the respective Directors-General. After the ceremony, the Union Minister, Deputy Ministers, 2nd Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Mr. Zhang Zhonghua and invited guests enjoyed the exhibitions featuring projects initiated by Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation was permitted to implement 35 projects with over 12.18 million USD special fund. The Ministry implemented 5 projects with Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund in 2017, 9 projects in 2018, 6 projects in 2020, 4 projects in 2021 and 7 projects in 2022. For this year, 4 projects have been granted to be implemented by the ministry.
These projects cover smooth trading of Myanmar Agri-products, accelerating multi-cropping system, establishing transnational Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) clearance zone, modifying genetic of domestic chickens and identifying the diseases.
