Fraud and Gambling Raids: 286 people arrested in Shan State

It was reported that foreign nationals were illegally brought into Myanmar and engaged in online financial fraud and gambling, concerned official made efforts to identify and arrest them.
On November 5, in Metman Township of eastern Shan State, 8 illegal Chinese men were arrested in MatNgauk Village, 196 illegal Chinese men, 2 illegal Chinese women and 2 illegal Malaysian men in AungThanLwin Village, 39 illegal Chinese men, 1 illegal Chinese woman and 3 Myanmar men and 5 women were arrested.
Likewise, on November 9 in Mongyaung Township area, 9 illegal Chinese men, 1 illegal Chinese woman and 5 Myanmar men were arrested. On the same day in Tachileik Township area, 6 illegal Chinese men, 1 illegal Chinese woman and 1 illegal Vietnamese woman were arrested.
On November 8 in Kalaw Township, 7 illegal Chinese men were arrested. According to the initial investigation of the above arrested persons, they are present in Myanmar for online financial fraud and gambling, and it is known that they were temporarily hiding in the villages not to be arrested by the security forces.
Investigation is underway and legal actions have been taken against the suspects.
