Belt & Road “Emergency Management: Safety and Prevention First”

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win joined the 2023 Belt and Road Ministerial Forum for International Cooperation in Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management hosted by China with the theme “Emergency Management: Safety and Prevention First”.

In this forum participated by 24 countries, the Union Minister said in order to reach the predicted goal of building a disaster-resilient human society, it will take a lot of time if only one country deals with natural disaster risk management activities.

As Myanmar is a country prone to natural disasters, the Natural Disaster Management Law was enacted in 2013 and the by-law in 2015 to carry out disaster management effectively.

Construction of cyclone-proof buildings, establishment of a natural disaster management training school, upgrading the Emergency Management Center (EOC)and implementation of early warning systems continue in Myanmar.

The Union Minister also expressed words of thank to China for assistance to natural disaster management activities. The forum approved a joint statement.
