The Group of Seven foreign ministers have started two days of talks in Tokyo on Tuesday. Japan plans to take the lead in the talks, with the country's foreign minister chairing the event.

The situation in Gaza is expected to be at the top of the agenda. It is the first in-person meeting for G7 diplomats since the start of conflict.

Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko is expected to call for the immediate release of the hostages held by Hamas. She is also expected to push for a humanitarian pause in the conflict.
