Agriculture Sector: Meeting to accelerate productivity in Bago Region

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut met with regional, district and township department of agriculture officers at the meeting hall to discuss the matters related to boosting productivity of oil crops and various pulses and beans in Bago Region.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister stressed that the Department of Agriculture needs to educate the farmers regarding cultivation techniques and the need to provide assistance to the farmers through closely supervision by relevant agricultural experts, to systematically carry out educational activities and research regarding peanut production and to conduct successive workshops on enhancing peanut yield involving the farmers and relevant officials.
And, the officials of the Bago Region Department of Agriculture reported the ongoing activities and plans as per the fiscal year. Upon the reports, the Deputy Minister instructed the departmental officials to conduct the research on side specific nutrient management and plant disease as well as to expand the seed production and coordinated the needs.
In Bago Region, a total of more than 30,000 acres of summer and monsoon paddy, more than 2.1 million acres of pulses and beans, more than 450,000 acres of oil crops are being cultivated during the 2022-2023 agricultural season.
