Religious Ceremonies: Headdress and Soon offering in Mawlamyine

A new headdress was offered to the Maha Myatmuni Buddha Image in Mawlamyine Township along with a consecration ceremony on Sunday. Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein and many other officials attended the ceremony which began with recitation of religious sermons by members of the Sangha.
The Chief Minister and officials also offered offertories to the members of the Sangha and shared the merits gained before offering soon (midday meal) to the members of the Sangha. On the same day, the Chief Minister attended a soon (midday meal) offering ceremony to members of the Sangha at the Shwetaung Monastery, marking the 35th anniversary of the department of general administration. There, they also offered offertories to the members of the Sangha.
