Agriculture Sector: Conference to address effects of climate change

Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw on Tuesday attended a technical conference to address the effects of climate change on the agricultural sector in the region.
In his address at the conference in Sagaing Township, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of preparations to tackle effects of El Niño, agricultural water scarcity, cultivation of crop varieties that can withstand heat and drought and water resource management.
The conference focused on situations that will be addressed on the impact of climate change, conditions to prevent farmers from being affected by climate change and grown crop varieties. And, the Chief Minister and officials oversaw practical demonstration of agricultural insecticides.
After the conference, the Chief Minister visited bean and sesame farms in NyaungPinSin Village, heard report and highlighted pure varieties, adequate access to agricultural inputs, sufficient water supply and target yield of cultivated crops.
