Electoral Affairs: Meeting with political parties in eastern Shan State

Member of the Union Election Commission (UEC) U Than Soe held a meeting with the registered political parties in the eastern Shan State for the political party members verification coordination meeting on Monday.
In this meeting at the Tachileik District election sub-commission office, the UEC member stressed the political party registration permission in line the law and by-law and verification.
If it is a party that will organize in the entire Union, it needs to have at least 100,000 party members within 90 days from the date of registration approval, and if it is a party that will organize only within a region or state, it has to have at least 1,000 party members within 90 days from the date of registration approval, he added.
And, secretary of the Shan State election sub-commission presented the situation that had been verified regarding the members of the political parties in the eastern Shan State. Concerned officials also made discussions.
And, the UEC member answered the questions raised by members of the political parties. It’s reported that in the eastern Shan State, there are 4 parties that will organize in the entire Union and 2 parties that will organize only within the Shan State.
