The Vegetable Orchestra celebrates its 25th birthday with Vienna concert

The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra celebrated its 25th anniversary with a concert at the ORF RadioKulturhaus in Vienna,Austria.

Created in 1998 by a group of friends, this orchestra uses only vegetables to play music. It’s instruments consist of numerous unusual vegetable instruments, which are made from, among other things, carrots, cellar tubers, eggplants, peppers, dried pumpkins, parsley or onion peels and are usually only durable for the duration of a performance.

The sounds from these instruments are diverse: transparent, crackling, delicate as well as hard and funky. Since its creation, the orchestra has performed more than 350 times all over the world and has developed its own repertoire of compositions.
