Work Undertakings: Tourism development and disaster reduction

Mon State Regional Tourism Work Committee held its work coordination meeting at the State Government Office on 17th October.
Committee Chairman Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein said Mon State has good prospect for tourism development with its abundant natural landscapes and heritage. He added that development in tourism industry could help create more employment opportunities. He called for sustainable development of tourism sector through developing Eco-Tourism sites.
This was followed by the update reports on tourism development works, and the Chief Minister coordinated the needs.
On the 18th, the Chief Minister attended a commemoration ceremony for the International Day for Disaster Reduction, and made a speech. They later viewed the display of video clips of the message of the UN Secretary General and documentary drama. They also enjoyed the commemorative phot gallery on the activities for disaster reduction in Mon State.
