Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Mr. Deng Xijun at his office in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday.
The delegation was in Myanmar to attend the 8th-anniversary celebration of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA). During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the delegation's attendance on behalf of China, marking this significant peace anniversary occasion.
The two sides later discussed matters related to the joint efforts by the government and Tatmadaw to achieve lasting peace in the country, based on the NCA, and China's assistance for the peace process. They also emphasized the importance of stability and development in border areas while rejecting any actions that could harm the interests of neighboring countries.
The Prime Minister pointed out that some Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) are participating in the peace process through agreements and pledges without being able to sign the NCA. He urged these EAOs to join the path of the NCA to achieve lasting peace, emphasizing the Tatmadaw's strong commitment to the multi-party democracy system. The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation to eliminate online gambling and scams, promoting bilateral cooperation, and the repatriation process of displaced persons in Rakhine State.
