






A commemorative ceremony for 149th World Post Day 2023 was observed at the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.
At the event, member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo said that this is the 149th Anniversary of Universal Postal Union-UPU and there are 192 member countries in UPU.
The UPU is an organization standing as a Truly Universal Network that is cooperating among member countries by issuing rules and regulations to be followed in implementing postal service and providing necessary technical assistances for member countries.
During COVID-19 pandemic, the postal networks can be operated regularly, the public services continued to be undertaken effectively as the digital and the ICT technologies could be effectively applied in the postal services.
As The key point of postal service is the customer trust and this year theme is “Together for Trust” and called for making efforts to use trustly postal services that are serving the people.
Later, a video clip on 2023 World Post Day message sent by the Director General of UPU based in Switzerland was screened and a video clip on the commemorative event was shown.
Afterwards, the Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister presented prizes to the winners at the 52nd International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People (National Level) aged 15 and under in the commemoration of the World Post Day. On behalf of the winners, the 1st prize winner spoke words of thanks.
After the photo sessoin, the Union Ministers and officials observed the display of documentary photos and booths in commemorating the World Post Day.
