Receiving delegation: MoIP Union Minister received UNHCR delegation

The Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received a delegation led by Ms. Noriko Takagi, resident representative of UNHCR at the parlor of the Union Minister’s Office, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 9th October.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister together with Deputy Ministers U Htay Hlaing and Dr. Myo Thant, permanent secretary U Win Zaw Aung, Director General of Immigration Department U Ye Tun Oo and officials.

At the meeting, both sides cordially exchanged views on the  status of contents of MoU to be able to sign between the Ministry and UNDP-UNHCR for the repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine State, amendments of wording and implementation for approval, the conditions to revise the wordings to be described in the MoU on the negotiation of both sides, status of carrying out for the foreigner employees of UNHCR to be able to receive entry visa and extension of residential term during the implementation for signing MoU, the conditions to be ought to be mutually coordinated for being simple MoU between the Ministry and the UNHCR to be able to affectively help for the repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhien State, and the understanding by UNHCR and the positive collaborations in the efforts of Myanmar for the repatriation process.
