Illegal trade: Illegal goods seized in various townships

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, illegal trade is effectively prevented and prosecuted in accordance with the law. The customs teams under the management of the Customs Departmentseized24 types of illegal goods from six containers at the Asia World container inspection station and one Nissan diesel truck transporting illegal goods from Muse to Mandalay was also seized at the Yaypu permanent checkpoint on 6 October.

Next more illegal goods were seized at Mayanchaung checkpoint and action was taken against offenders in accordance with customs procedures. Subsequently, officials made further inspections in Sagain Region, Shan State, Kayin State, Mandalay Region and Rakhine State on 7 October and seized illegal items including edible oil, vehicles, furniture and soft drinks.

Therefore, total number of arrests on 6 and 7 October was in 25 cases (approximately 747.231 million Kyats) according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
