






Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on Saturday inspected the Ma Hlwa Kone railway yard under the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Yangon. There, at the meeting hall, the Senior General heard reports on matters including history of the railway yard, workshops conditions and tasks and goods transport.
In his response, the Senior General said that rail transportation is the most beneficial transportation system as it can deliver goods at a low cost. Lowering the cost of transportation can directly contribute to the welfare of the people's daily socio-economic life, and it is important for national development that rail transportation needs to be promoted.
The Senior General also urged concerned officials to develop a modern train transportation system, and to produce electric locomotives. It is necessary to carry out preparations to be able to change train transportation using electricity.
Train timetables also need to be an accurate system, he added. And, the Senior General inspected locomotives repair processes and gave necessary guidance. Also, he inspected 30 Rail Bus Engine donated by West Corporation of Japan, heard report and called for efforts to pay attention to cleanliness and to constantly monitor the needs of train passengers for a high-quality ride as these trains are for the Yangon circular route and short distances.
And, the Senior General viewed a display of steam locomotives and stressed repair and the importance of maintenance. Then, the Senior General provided cash assistance for staff at the Ma Hlwa Kone railway yard.
