Industrial Development: MOI Union Minister receives Indian delegation

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than received a delegation led by the General Manager of the Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) International Ltd of India Mr. Y.K. Vaish at the Ministry on Friday.

During the meeting, they frankly discussed the upgrading of industrial training institutes which is being implemented with the assistance by the Indian Government.

They also discussed matters pertaining to the opening of two Industrial Training Schools in Monywa and Thaton, and conducting training courses for the teachers of industrial training schools, steel and rubber commercial production, vehicle maintenance, capacity building, equipment handling and maintenance as well as sending scholars to India and further necessary support. HMT (International) Ltd. is an organization under the Ministry of Heavy Industries of India.

The Indian Government granted authorities to this organization to implement the human resources and the industrial sector development of Myanmar according to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide Grant Aid.

Under this program, the Indian Government in cooperation wiht the Ministry of Industry signed MoU for the Industrial Training School (Pakokku) in 2009, and No. 6 Industrial Training School (Myingyan) in 2011 and 5-year multi projects with Industrial Training Schools of (Pakokku), (Monywa), (Thaton) and (Myingyan) in 2018.

According to the MoU, machinery and equipment were provided by India, while conducting training courses by sending scholars and providing on-job training. Moreover, maintenance services for the machinery and teaching aids equipment were provided along with the technical assistance.
