World Teachers’ Day: Commemorative ceremony held in Nay Pyi Taw

A commemorative ceremony for World Teachers' Day was held at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by members of the State Administration Council Dr. Hmu Thang and Dr. Ba Shwe, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, the Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, officials, as well as eminent persons, outstanding teachers, and winners of the competitions. Union Minister for Education Dr. NyuntPe, read out the message sent by the Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Thadoe Maha Thayay Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing.

Similarly, the message collectively sent by the Leaders of five UN agencies was read out by the Secretary-General of the Myanmar National Commission for UNESCO Dr. Kyi Shwin. This was followed by an explanation of the work performances of the eminent persons and outstanding teachers.

Then, certificates and honorary cash were presented to the eminent persons and outstanding teachers, as well as to the winners of the World Teachers' Day commemorative competitions. Union Minister Dr. NyuntPe later paid respect to the retired teachers from the Physics Department, Chairman of the National Curriculum Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science. Then, the attendees viewed the commemorative booths of World Teachers' Day 2023, which is held under the theme "The Teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage."
