State/Region Lethwei Tournament: SAC members attends the opening ceremony

2023 State and Region Lethwei or traditional boxing tournament kicked off at the Wunna Theikdhi stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday and members of the State Administration Council Daw Dwe Bu, U Shwe Kyein and U Yan Kyaw attended the event. 

At the ceremony, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan in his capacity as Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee urged all athletes from regions and states who participate in the competition to compete with full sportsmanship and show their abilities and called for referees to make correct and fair decisions in line with rules and regulations of the competition.

The Union Minster urged the new generations to strive to become good boxers and opened the tournament. Afterwards, the athletes took their sports oaths and the member of SAC and the Union Minster greeted the athletes. The 2023 State and Region Lethwei Tournament is aimed to produce outstanding new athletes representing the country.

On Wednesday, Men’s 51 kilo, Women’s 48 kilo, Men’s 54, 60 and 67 kilo class tournament were held and the matches in respective weighing classes will be taken place until 11th October.
