Work coordination meeting: Pilot census will be collected from October 1 to 15

A work coordination meeting (2/2023) for successfully collecting of pilot census 2023 as a preparation of 2024 Nationwide Population and Housing Census was held at the office of the Bago Region Government on 27th October.

During the meeting, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win in his capacity of the Chairman of the Region Census Organizing Committee stressed on enumeration of the population and housing census as it provides the necessary data in drafting the state’s development projects and the correct voter lists.

The 2023 Pilot census project will be conducted based on the weaknesses and previous experiences to be prepared for 2024 nationwide census collection.Then, the Region Ministers for Social Affairs, Security and Border Affairs and Transportation clarified the tasks to be implemented.

The meeting also discussed safety measures of each plot, wards and villages during the census collection process and cooperative tasks of the relevant departments on which the Chief Minister coordinated the requirements. In Bago Region, the pilot census enumeration will be conducted from 1st to 15th October and the census will be enumerated to a total of 10,320 people from 2,263 households at the 5 plots in Bago Township and 1,790 people of 477 households at the 4 plots in Paungde Township.
