



A ceremony was held on Wednesday to provide cash assistance to elders aged 85 and above, volunteer organizations, and venerable groups in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win delivered a speech at the ceremony, emphasizing that the ministry is committed to providing equal provisions for all residents in the country, without discrimination, as outlined in the National Social Protection Strategy.
Starting in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, data of eligible beneficiaries have been encoded into the Social Management Information System (SMIS). He called for the cooperation of all concerned individuals for the successful implementation of social protection initiatives.
Nay Pyi Taw Council's Chairman U Than Tun Oo expressed words of gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries. This was followed by the presentation of cash assistance totaling 421.95 million kyats. Assistance will be provided to a total of 4,922 elders aged 85 and above, as well as 16 charity houses, 54 self-reliant pre-schools, and 105 members of venerable groups from the Nay Pyi Taw Council area.
On the same day, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win received the Chargé d'affaires of the Qatar Embassy in Myanmar Dr. Rashid Abdulla M.A. Al-Kuwari to discuss humanitarian assistance provided by ASEAN member states and partner countries for the victims of Cyclone Mocha, the repatriation process for displaced persons and the implementation of development projects in Rakhine State.
