The logistics surveillance system (E-lock) was launched at the Thilawa Special Economic Zone in Yangon on 19th September. The secured E-lock system will provide real-time monitoring of cargo movements, track and detect the activity of the containers and box trucks.

It also facilitates the trade flow, complying with the international container shipping process,  prevents illicit trade and cargo delays problems, increase the State’s revenue, reduce the risks of cargo damages and losses and save the extra charges.

According to an official of Customs Department, the Phase-1 of E-lock system will be conducted as a trial on the Yangon SEZ- Myawaddy route to track the movements of cargo with containers and box trucks. Depending on the results of Phase-1, the system will be continued on Yangon-Myawaddy, Mandalay-Muse and Yangon-Mandalay routes for the Phase-2.

The E-Lock system will support the ASEAN Customs Transit system to facilitate the movement of cargos across the borders of ASEAN countries. The full battery of E-Locks can be used in 7 days and the E-lock system is widely applied by internationals.
