Workplace stability: Officials make inspections to garment factories

Officials of the Ministry of Labour made inspections to garment factories in Hlaing Thaya and Shwe Pyitha Townships of Yangon Region for the worksite stability and boosting productivity.

The Workplace Coordinating Committees (WCCs) are prioritizing on the emergence of skilled workers to support boosting productivity.  

Htet Htet Aung ,Factory worker ,Hosheng (Myanmar) Garment Co., Ltd said " I am a member of the Workplace Safety and Health Committee of the factory. There are 15 members in the committee including me. We hold meeting at least once a month. We discuss matters on what difficulties the employees have, safety requirements such as fire extinguishers, equipment failures and fire safety measures."

Aung Thiha Oo ,HR Manager ,Hosheng (Myanmar) Garment Co., Ltd said " At the Hosheng (Myanmar) Garment Factory, we pay the fee 4,800 kyats in accord with the law. We also add subsidy. Our factory maintains a happy workplace between employers and employees. Foreign investors also want to invest for a long time and we want to stand the factory in the best position without any difficulties."

One of the employees said that their normal salary is 4,800 kyat per day and they will get more fees if they can do as much as they can. 

Shwe Sin Latt ,Factory Worker ,JIU Sheng (Myanmar) Knitted Wear Factory said " I have worked here for 8 years. Our salary is more than 700,000 and 800,000 kyats per month. The normal salary is 4,800 kyat set by the state and the OT fee is only 1200. We will get more if we can do as much as we can. "

By producing skilled workers, the quality products can be produced on time and the socio-economic life of the people can promote and it can support a lot progress of the country’s GDP.
