Sports sector development: CM attends awarding ceremony of Caneball competition

The awarding ceremony of 2023 Magway Region Government’s Cup Inter-township men’s Myanmar traditional Chinlone (Caneball) competition was held at the Magway Region Indoor stadium on Sunday evening.

The event was opened on 6th September and at the opening ceremony, the Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin said that for preserving the traditional cane ball (Chinlone) playing and emerging outstanding cane ball players representing the state and new generation athletes, the Inter-township men’s traditional Chinlone competition was held.

At the awading ceremony, the region chief minister and officials presented prizes to the best player awards, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winning townships and medals, cash awards and trophoy to the winning teams.

After that, the Chief Minister gave a speech at the ceremony of handing over a victory flag to the athletes representing Magway region to participat in the 2023 State/Region Weightlifting Contest. At the event, the Chief Minister said that all athletes need to compete with the sportsmen spirit when they promote the country's prestige through sports and urged them to compete fairly in every contest for winnings. The Chief Minister then presented the victory flag and cash assistance to supervisors, coaches and athletes representing Magway Region.
