Party leader chairs welcome ceremony for US President

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong presided over the welcome ceremony for US President Joe Biden at the Presidential Palace in Ha Noi on September 10th.

This is the first time a US President has made a State visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of a General Secretary. The visit takes place when the two countries are marking the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Partnership.

The visit offers an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss bilateral relations and international issues for the benefit of both nations and contribute to peace, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and worldwide.

The Vietnamese leader and US President agreed that the reality has demonstrated that the most important factor in developing Vietnam-US relations is total respect for the fundamental principles guiding the bilateral relationship.
