Awarding Ceremony: Winners of First Aid Competitions awarded

The awarding ceremony of outstanding winners in the First Aid Competitions marking 2023 World First Aid Day was held at the Headquaeters of Myanmar Red Cross Society on Friday.

At the event, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win said that the Myanmar Red Cross Society provides not only first aid services to those who have been injured due to various reasons but also assistance to those who need sympathy and humanitarian aid, for natural disasters, health care services, COVID-19 preventive measures and Mocha cyclone response measures.

In cooperation with ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance (AHA) Center, the Society performed the tasks responsibly in joining hand with relevant ministries in whatever role they are. This year theme of World First Aid Day is “First Aid in the Digital World”.

From attending Fist Aid courses and reading the subject books, in the digital technology age, it has been seen that the first aid is created to be accessible by everyone through the Internet, Facebook, YouTube and First Aid Mobile Application.

The Union Minister urged Red Cross members to raise public awareness on first aid skills as much as possible, to share good experiences from the First Aid Skill competion to their respective regions and states and to make efforts for ensuring a peaceful, prosperous, modern and developed nation in cooperation with relevant ministries.

After that, President of Myanmar Red Cross Society explained about the aim of holding celebration and a documentary video on the first aid activity was shown. The Union Minister then presented township red cross sub-society awards which can mostly perform the first aid services.

The Union Minister and party then viewed the display of booth and then the first session adjourned. In the afternoon session, head of delegation of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent and the Deputy Health Coordinator of the International Red Cross Committee extended greetings.

After that, the President of MRCS, Vice President and officials presented prizes to winners of essay, poem contests and quiz, the township red cross sub-societies which can open mostly the first aid courses and those who took part excellently in the first aid activities.
