Ban the import of plastic tableware

The Macau government has announced to widen its ban on more single-use plastic items.

The import of single-use non-biodegradable plastic plates, cups and polystyrene food containers will be prohibited starting from the beginning of next year.

After a comprehensive analysis of Macau's actual scenario, the experiences of other regions and the opinions of relevant industries, the government is taking further steps to protect the environment.

The Environmental Protection Bureau will arrange briefing sessions to further explain the scope of implementation and specific operational requirements of the ban to relevant chambers of commerce and industries.
