73 people died in major building fire in Johannesburg

At least 73 people, including seven children, have died and 43 other people were injured in a major fire in the South African metropolis of Johannesburg, South Africa’s biggest city. The fire broke out on Thursday and the cause is still unclear, said the spokesman for the rescue forces.

Apparently, the actually empty five-story building was inhabited by homeless people. At the scene on Thursday, hundreds of people gathered behind police lines hoping for word on friends and family members who lived in the building.
