Finance & Health: ASEAN Finance and Health Ministers’ Meeting

Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win on Thursday attended the ASEAN Finance and Health Ministers’ Meeting in Jarkata of Indonesia.

The meeting began with speeches by the Indonesian Finance Minister and Health Minister. And, the attendees made discussions on analysis of the financing needs of pandemic response activities and ways to address the needs and ASEAN COVID-19 and Public Health Emergency Response financing issues.

In this meeting, the Union Minister stressed that Myanmar overcame the COVID-19 pandemic by cooperation between the ministries, well-wishers, private sector organizations and the public.

Myanmar will work together with ASEAN member countries to strengthen the health system, to recover beyond the COVID-19 and to overcome the epidemics that may occur in the future, the Union Minister added.

And, the ASEAN Finance and Health ministers issued a joint statement. On the same day, the Union Minister attended the ASEAN Health Minister’s Meeting which began with a speech by the Indonesian Health Minister.

This meeting continued with discussions on decisions to establish the ASEAN Public Health Emergency Task Force, issues related to the cooperation on health care activities in the ASEAN region and the ASEAN funding issues. The Union Minister also attended a dinner hosted by the Indonesian Health Ministry.
