








Under Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2021) project, a workshop on development of saving practices in micro finance enterprises in Myanmar was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. At the workshop, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe said that the main objective of the Mekong-Lanchang cooperation is to develop the socio-economic life of the countries along the Lancang-Mekong coast, to promote the interests of people in various countries, to reduce the development gap of regional countries, to support the building of the ASEAN community together through thick and thin, to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and to encourage the cooperation of developing countries.
The Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2021) project will be implemented from April 2022 to September of this year.With the MLC Special Fund (2021) project, it hopes to contribute to the development of cooperative enterprises in the country based on the experience and knowledge gained from learning about cooperative systems, procedures and the methods after making study tours among the Mekong region countries.
He called on to discuss the rules and regulations regarding the cooperative micro finance business, internationally applied policies and procedure, advantages and disadvantages, challenges and the ways for better cooperative societies in the workshop.
He said that by discussing the development of the cooperative sector in the workshop, not only for the development of Myanmar's cooperative sector but also for the economic and social development of Mekong region countries will be implemented through the cooperation and it can also reduce the development gap between the regional countries and achieve sustainable development.
After that, an official of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and Vice Chairman of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation National Coordination Unit (Myanmar) reported progress of works. In the 2nd session, the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of CBC Myanmar Microfinance, the Directors General of the Department of Cooperatives and the Chairman of Mandalay Region Cooperative Syndicate and attendees raised the queries and made discussions.
