Xi says China-S Africa ties surpass bilateral scope

China-South Africa ties have gone beyond the bilateral scope and carried global sway, said Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday when meeting the press jointly with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa following their meeting in Pretoria, South Africa.  

Xi said this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa, and over the past 25 years, China-South Africa ties have achieved leapfrog development with strategic mutual trust reaching new heights and multilateral coordination further enhanced.

The two leaders had an in-depth exchange of views on China-South Africa relations, China-Africa cooperation, and regional and international affairs of mutual interest. They reached consensus on a series of important related issues.
