Floods force evacuation in central Chile after heavy rains

People evacuated on foot and by boat through flooded streets after heavy rains flooded the Chilean city of Talca, 200 km south of Santiago. This region had already experienced heavy rainfall at the end of June. The government declared a state of disaster in an area stretching from the Valparaiso region (north-west of Santiago) to the Biobio region further south.
