Fish Releasing :400,000 fingerlings released into Ayeyawady River

For the conservation of fish species in the rivers and creeks and being sufficient fish for consumers, the Department of Fisheries in Mandalay Region released fingerling into Ayeyawady River. 

Than Chaung, Director, Department of Fisheries, Mandalay Region said " We will release fingerling along Ayeyawady river for sustainable development of fish species and we have also a plan to release fish into Dokehtawady River. We have already released 9.7 million fingerlings into the rivers and creeks including the number released in today’s ceremony. We mainly released carp, sturgeon, and barbus fish species. Sometimes, we release the species produced by our Department."

For releasing fish, the fingerlings have been nurtured at the four fish hatchery camps of Mandalay region in advance 4 months since last February, the official added. 

Than Chaung ,Director ,Department of Fisheries, Mandalay Region said " When the fingerlings are two to three-month old, they are released into rivers, creeks, lakes and natural waters. Whey they become 2-inch size, the fish can thrive themselves in the water."

In the ceremony, 400,000 fingerlings of 2-month old carps, sturgeon, and barbus fish species were released into Ayeyawady River.
