Assistance for flood victims: Union Minister visits rescue camps in HlaingBwe, Hpa-an

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win together with officials visited rescue camps of flood victims in HlaingBwe and Hpa-an on Thursday and provided cash and kind. The Union Minister and party firstly inspected water inundation at the houses in the low-lying areas of HlaingBwe Township and relocating flood affected people to rescue camps and gave necessary instruction.

They then met with flood victims who are being accommodated at the rescue camps in Kamawt Kachu village in the township and stressed on preventive measures for infectious diseases such as Diarrhea and dysentery, personal hygiene, sanitation, systematic garbage throwing system and fire safety measures.

They then provided cash for rice ration and instant noodles and eggs for 237 people of 65 households. Afterwards, the Union Minister and party comforted flood affected people at the rescue camps in Aung San Hall in HlaingBwe and also provided cash and food stuff for 138 population of 32 households.

The Union Minister then met flood victims at the rescue camps in No.9 and No.1 wards, No.1 Basic Education High School, Thumay Dharama Gyar Taya monastery and No.11 Basic Education High School in Hpa-an and provided cash for rice and food stuff.

During the inspection, the Union Minister provided over 39.6 million kyats for rice ration and instant noodles and eggs for 4,723 people of 990 food-affected households at the 10 rescue camps in Hlaing Bwe Township, over 31.23 million kyats for rice and food stuff for 3,470 population of 704 flooded households at the 9 rescue camps in Hpa-an and more than 6.7 million kyats for rice and food for 752 flood affected people of 172 households at the 3 rescue camps in Kyon Doe township.
