Portugal: firefighters battle wildfires amid searing heat

The fires in Portugal continue to ravage the country, from north to south.

The Portuguese fire brigade has put an end to the fire that had been raging for 2 days in the Proença-a-Nova region in the centre of the country.

They are maintaining active vigilance in order to prevent any recurrence of the fire."It's the weather changes, the high heat. I'm having a lot of trouble getting water to water my little orchard up there. I get less and less water, it hasn't rained for I don't know how many months now, it's really difficult," says a resident.
