The statement issued by the Ministry of Labour on the organizing and implementing of Labour Organizations and Employer Organizations reveals that 3,043 labour organizations and employer organizations have been issued recognized certificates since the enactment of the Labour Organization Law in 2011.
Myanmar, being a member-state of the International Labour Organization (ILO), implemented the Labour Organization Law (2011) to comply with the principles of the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize Convention (No. 87) of the ILO.
According to the statement, labour organizations and employer organizations in Myanmar are granted the freedom of rights to organize, provided that the facts they submit are complete and accurate in accordance with the provisions under section 15, sub-sections A and B of the Labour Organization Rules, which were enacted on October 11, 2011.
Currently, there are 11 Myanmar labour organizations, employer organizations, and federations that are conducting organizing measures in compliance with the Labour Organization Law and Rules (2011).
Additionally, the statement reveals that 25 Region/State Labour Organizations, 1 Township Employer's Organization, 156 Township Labour Organizations, 26 Basic Employer's Organizations, and 2,824 Basic Labour Organizations have also been issued recognized certificates in accordance with the Labour Organization Law and Rules (2011).
