Oil spill along tourist beach in Northern Ecuador

Images released by the Armed Forces show a long slick of crude oil covering the sand and reaching the sea at a tourist beach in Esmeraldasprovince, northwestern Ecuador. According to state-owned company Petroecuador, the oil spilled onto Las Palmas beach in the city of Esmeralda, where an oil terminal and a refinery operate.
