



The 25th meeting of the National Seed Committee-NSC was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation on Tuesday. Chairman of the NSC Deputy Minister Dr Tin Htut and NSC members, leaders of the Technical Working Groups and officials of the Technical Seed Committee joined the meeting.
On the occasion, the Deputy Minister Dr Tin Htut said that it needs to extend education on rule and regulation like technical works for the development of agriculture sector. All stakeholders are needed to understand and practice enacting law for the farmers’ right protection and promoting their interests to implement smoothly the existing rules and regulations and directives on the seeds and soils in the relevant work program.
He also stressed on keeping good strains and widely applying quality seeds and disseminating technique and efforts for development of seed sector in line with procedures in cooperation with private and farmers, more progress of local seed production, importing and distribution of strains that have been certified the new strain and monitoring and supervising to prevent fraud in the field of seed business in accordance with the seed law and procedures.
Based on the reports of the Technical Working Groups and the Technical Seed Committee step by step, the NSC has issued new strain certifications for a total of 1,614 varieties and measures have been undertaken to issue new strain certifications to 71 new varieties.
