Steering Committee Meeting: MCRD Union Minister addressed the meeting

The distribution of Urea fertilizer Steering Committee Meeting was held at the meeting hall of the ministry of the Cooperative and Rural Development on 17th July with the attendance by the Union Minister U Hla Moe, committee members and responsible officials.

At the opening remark by the Union Minister, the distribution of Urea fertilizer Steering Committee is prioritizing for timely necessary inputs for agricultural activities and purchase of good quality strains with reasonable prices. Also, the committee issued the reference prices with the negotiation of the Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticides Entrepreneurs Association. He also stressed that the monsoon, summer paddy and green gram projects will be implemented by the State Economic Promotion Fund and inputs will be needed in time for this project. It is also needed to pay emphasis on providing inputs in time, boosting agricultural production and reduction of foreign currency expense.

As market economy, it is vital to have high quality, standard, guarantee and fair prices, to provide the necessary technique and services, to create a win-win situation between business owners and farmers, to reduce the expense of foreign currency, to consider for the production of the import substitute products and to encourage in promoting the usage of natural fertilizer.

Then, the chairman of Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticides Entrepreneurs Association reported about the acquiring purchasing of foreign currency with the recommendation of the steering committee, import licenses, arrival of imports, completion of distribution and sales, sale prices.

Then, the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut and Steering Committee Secretary, Permanent Secretary U Khant Zaw supplemented the purchasing, distribution progress of Urea fertilizer.

Then, the concerned officials from the Ministry of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Commerce and the Department of Agriculture clarified about the progress of works in the respective sectors.

In response to the reports, the Union Minister coordinated the needs and urged all relevant officials to cooperate for timely import and distribution of Urea fertilizer which is a key for agriculture sector, it’s reported.
