Iraq and Syria intend to 'intensify efforts to strengthen cooperation'

Syria and Iraq's leaders say they would step up efforts to fight terrorism and reinforce cooperation in several sectors, as Damascus recovers its place in the Arab world.

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad tells a joint news conference that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani's visit "will constitute a significant, effective, practical and genuine leap forward in the context of fraternal relations.
