Illegal trade: Illegal teaks, consumer goods, vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.  

A Toyota Mark II at the corner of Mehtee street and circular street in Magway on 12 and 13 July, 2.011 tonnes of illegal sawn teak and sal and a FAW truck found near Kyaukmwe village of Sedoktara Township, nine kinds of goods, including 200 children’s clothes from a vehicle driving from Thamanya to Yangon in Kayin State on 13 July, two vehicles driving from Myawady to Mawlamyine and a vehicle driving from Kyondoe to Mawlamyine were unable to show valid import permit documents and 700 cartons of Sponsor energy drink, 200 cartons of Lipovitan-D energy drink, 1,600 litres of cooking oil, 50 cartons of Yum Yum instant noodle, 50 cartons of various biscuits, 8,750 kilogrammes of Flying Horse fertilizer and a Nissan Condor Truck, a Mitsubishi Fuso Truck, a Mitsubishi Canter Truck on Kyagale-Zathapyin-Mawlamyine road, 1,350 child wear cotton and a total of 5,000 kilogrammes of GS Caltex high density polyethylene at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) checkpoint, 0.329 tonne of teak parquet and a Nissan Condor Truck which carried the goods at Mandalay 16th-mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint, 122.8420 tonnes of illegal teak from Daik-U Township,  a Honda Airwave at the Aungmyay Thazi street in Kamayut Township.

Therefore, a total of 18 illegal trade cases of arrests were made from 12 to 14 July, with an estimated value of 201.271 million Kyats, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
