



Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko met with members of Myanmar Artists Organization (Central) at the National Theater in Yangon on Sunday.
The Union Minister discussed that the organization has been serving for the interest of the nation and its people including the artists and art field throughout successive era. The Executive Committee (EC) members were already selected in February, and the ministry has granted its approval. He emphasized the need to arrange for the selection of new EC members before the upcoming election in accordance with the regulations.
The Chairman and officials of the organization later reported on the work undertakings and future plans. In his conclusion, the Union Minister urged all to focus on development of art field in Myanmar while striving for welfare of the members.
He called for the preservation of the ten traditional arts and crafts to prevent them from being extinct, in cooperation with the ministry. The Myanmar Artists Organization (Central), originally formed as the Burma Art Club in 1918, is now in its 105th year.
